Day 7 on Mt Kilimanjaro
December 13, 2012
We woke up to sunshine and no sign of rain. The trail from Mweka Camp took us down from the Heather Zone and into the Rainforest once again. The beauty of the rainforest cannot be overstated. Though we were all very tired and physically drained from the last six days of intense mental and physical challenge, the intense green from the rainforest had a rejuvenating affect. We saw colobus monkeys in the trees as we hiked down. They jumped from tree to tree with their long fluffy white tails. The rain managed to stay away until we were almost to the gate where our van and driver were waiting for us. The 2012 Kilimanjaro Charity Climb was finally over.
Back at the hotel, the trekking company (Zara Adventure Tours) awarded Emanueli, Irene and Tim all certificates for reaching the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was a joy to see each of them celebrate that victory.
Financial Goal Reached
It is my great honor to report to you that the GOAL of raising $25,000 for Treasures of Africa Children’s Home through this Charity Climb was met AND EXCEEDED! At last count we had received $26,335.
